Alok Kumar pots snooker title

Chennai, Dec 21 (IANS) National champion Alok Kumar (PSPB) shrugged off a hesitant start to beat Kamal Chawla (Railways) 6-2 in the final of the Alumni Club-Anna University invitational snooker tournament here Wednesday and picked up the winner’s cheque for Rs.1.5 lakh.

Chawla, the 32-year old from Bhopal took the first frame on a break of 48, but lost the next on the colours as the 43-year old Alok Kumar from Punjab got into his stride to level at 1-1.

The duo shared the next two before Alok touched peak form and won three frames in a row aided by a break of 76 in the sixth.

The result (final) - Alok Kumar (PSPB) bt Kamal Chawla (Rlys) 6-2: 41-80 (48), 57-35, 75-49, 61-65, 48-24, 51-24, 77(76)-11, 59(35)-9.
