All 100m participants clear doping tests
August 19th, 2009 - 6:38 pm ICT by IANSBerlin, Aug 19 (DPA) Champion Usain Bolt and the other seven 100 metres finalists at the world championships have passed the doping test, the ruling body IAAF said Wednesday.
“All the test results are negative. Please note that all the athletes involved in this final have also tested negative in all other tests carried out prior to the 100m final,” the IAAF said in a short statement.
Bolt won the final with a stunning world record of 9.58 seconds ahead of American Tyson Gay (9.71) and fellow-Jamaican Asafa Powell (9.84) Sunday.
The next day some German media speculated about a positive test involving a finalist. But by that time the samples from the final had not yet been examined by a lab in Cologne, the IAAF said.
