Washington, March 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) What the Northern Iowa player Ali Farokhmanesh did on Saturday, just few seconds before the game got over, will be remembered by many as one of the star performances of this year’s March Madness. The 9th seeded Northern Iowa team won over the Kansas team with the last minute addition of 3 points by Ali Farokhmanesh. Northern Iowa won over Kansas, with scores being 69-67.
The 9th seeded Northern Iowa team on Saturday was playing against the number 1 seeded Kansas team and hopes were that the win will follow the Kansas team. However, the rank seemed hardly to matter to any of the Northern Iowa players who were determined to make it big on Saturday. Ali Farokhmanesh came up as one such player who proved that the team has yet much to show to the fans. From the very beginning, the two teams went for some aggressive play. Both the teams were able to pull up well but what made all the difference is that towards the end of the second half of the game, Kansas suffered a terrible loss when its player Tyrel Reed was called back for an offensive foul. The Northern Iowa team then was led to the victory by the two free throws which Ali Farokhmanesh utilized without a miss.
Ali Farokhmanesh added 16 points to the teams winning score and was more than happy with his contribution. The Kansas team’s loss has been called by many as the greatest shock of this year’s NAAC tournament. Ali Farokhmanesh is the declared hero of the Northern Iowa team and much of the hope is now pinned on him for the coming games in the NAAC tournament.
