Los Angeles, Dec 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There was shock on Thursday when Los Angeles Angels announced that they have swooped St. Louis Cardinals’ Albert Pujols. The high profile move was made possible after the Cardinals reportedly refused to guarantee Pujols a ten-year deal. Reports say the deal was concluded on Thursday.

New York Daily News reported that the manager of Pujols was involved in negotiation with the Cardinals to guarantee a ten-year deal. Aside from the guarantee, the Cardinals were not ready to give more than $215 million. That was something the Angels were ready to do. The Miami Marlins also entered the race to get Pujols but they pulled out on Tuesday.

Owner Arte Moreno has often bid and failed to lure big shots in the league. Being his biggest sign yet, Moreno handed a ten-year deal worth $250 million. Pujols is a three-time National League MVP and his addition will definitely spark the Angels. The move by Pujols comes as a shock because he seemed settled at the Cardinals where he was involved in charity works.

He was very influential in getting the Cardinals to the World Series this year. His agent Dan Lozano was influential in getting Pujols to sign the deal.
