Dec. 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Alan Belcher defeated Wilson Gouveia in the first round of the final fight of the prelims of the UFC. This win catapults Alan Belcher in the main cards, with Wilson Gouveia being ousted. The fight lasted for 3 minutes and 3 seconds, and was held at the Fed Ex Forum at Memphis in Tennessee on Saturday. The match between the two was honored the “Match Of The Night”, and the contenders won the 65,000 dollars that is awarded to the fighters of the match.
Alan Belcher was awarded the bonus the second time in a row. This time, the fight was in his hometown, and at 25, it was no mean feat for him to have fought and defeated the 195 pound catch-weight Wilson Gouveia. It was also his third win out of the four matches he had appeared in. Although he had expressed quite a lot of displeasure at the match ups in the preliminary round of the UFC, he must have been pleased with it in the end.
The round started well, with both the fighters fighting well enough for the audience not to decide who would go up to the main event. As the pace picked up, both Alan Belcher and Wilson Gouveia seemed somewhat woozy from all the powerful punches and blows that the two threw at each other. Luckily for Alan Belcher, he got down his target first with a series of well aimed uppercuts and hooks. After the game, the winner declared that he felt that it was fun to be able to fight a match in the presence of his family and friends, all of whom were present at the fight.
