Sep 1 (IBNS) University of Alabama defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick was shot at by miscreants twice at Rivermont Apartments Monday night in Tuscaloosa.

Deaderick is currently under treatment at DCH, and authorities are on the scene.

Source said: Deaderick was only shot once in the forearm and it isn’t life-threatening. He was shot when he refused to turn “it” over to a robber masked behind a bandanna.

To this, a news agency added: The shooting happened Monday night at an apartment complex. Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson told the Tuscaloosa News the player suffered a gunshot wound to the forearm. Anderson says it’s not a life-threatening injury.

Deaderick, a starting defensive end for the Tide, played in all 14 games in 2008 making 14 solo tackles, 22 assisted tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks.

In 2007 Deaderick was charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and giving police a fake name.

DCH Hospital spokesman Brad Fisher told the Mobile Press-Register that Deaderick is in good condition and was admitted for the night to a hospital room. Deaderick is expected to have a major role on defense during the upcoming season for the Crimson Tide. Last year, the defensive end had four sacks in 14 starts.
