Sep 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A.J. Burnett - the Yankees pitcher chose to be mum when he was asked about the source of his black eye at the game against the Orioles Friday night. His team won the game and that made him happy as was evident from his expressions but he did not speak at all about his right eye as to why it was blackened. When he was asked about it he tried to avoid the subject saying that “There’s more important things going on than my eye”. A.J. Burnett also made it clear that the eye did not interfere with his playing performance on the field and he gave his est to the game and won it at the end.
When the player declined to reveal the source of his blackened eye the questions were put to Joe Girardi, the Yankees manager. The manager said that he had expected that the question will arise but he also evaded the topic just like the player. The player also said that he is willing to talk about baseball and there are important things going on in his life other than his black eye. The remark made some wondering whether the reason was too personal or something that can make him embarrassed.
The player was also asked if he got injured while playing or practicing which resulted in the spot around his eye being formed, he replied in the negative. The player vaguely said that it was something he had to face and now that it is over he is moving on. This is not the first time that the player made an appearance in an injured state.
