Aircel to sponsor Indian Davis Cup team

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) Telecom major Aircel will be the sponsor of the Indian tennis team for the Davis Cup play-off against Japan in Tokyo Sep 18-20.
The Aircel India Davis Cup team comprising Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Somdev Devvarman, Rohan Bopanna and S.P. Misra (non-playing captain) will leave for Tokyo Sep 12.
“Aircel’s association with AITA is bound to enthuse tremendous energy to the Indian Davis Cup team,” Anil Khanna, secretary general, All India Tennis Association (AITA), said in a statement.
Gurdeep Singh, chief operating officer of Aircel, said they are “proud” to be associated with the Davis Cup team.
“It is our passion to associate and encourage sport at all levels and inspire the youth to actively participate and put India on the World Map,” he said.
India will be looking to regain their place in the World Group, where they lost to defending champions Serbia in the first round last year.
