After Double Overtime, Jacksonville State Football Team Wins Over University Of Mississippi

Oxford, Sep 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Crazy was the week for Ole Miss team and crazier still was their loss to Jacksonville State football on Saturday during the season opening game. The Jacksonville State team went for a 49-48 win over the University of Mississippi football team after a double-overtime. The return of Jeremiah Masoli to the team of Ole Miss although helped it a lot to score, at the end it was Jacksonville State football team that won the game.
Few will disagree to the statement that both Ole Miss and Jacksonville State football team came up with some great play on Saturday and fought till the end second to win the game. The game was able to maintain the excitement till the end as even the final few seconds were full of action. At the beginning of the game, the Jacksonville State, which is a Football Championship Subdivision team from the Ohio Valley Conference, was trailing the Ole Miss by 31-10 till the half-time. However, after its return from the break, the former outscored the latter and went for 21-3 in the fourth quarter leading to an overtime.
Just before the end of the second overtime, Jacksonville State running back Calvin Middleton found himself struggling in midst of a mass of opponent players as quarterback Coty Blanchard tried to place a 2-point conversion pass towards the end zone. Freeing himself from the mass of bodies Calvin Middleton ran his way down with the football leading his team to victory. It was Coty Blanchard’s 30-yard touchdown pass to Kevyn Copper that made the team trail its opponent by 48-47 in the second overtime.
