After booze ban, Capello praises Carroll for scoring first England goal
March 30th, 2011 - 1:46 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar. 30 (ANI): Coach Fabio Capello has toasted striker Andy Carroll after he scored his first England goal.Carroll, told to stop boozing by boss Capello, fired in a 43rd-minute opener before a late leveller from Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan.
The Sun quoted Capello, as saying: “Carroll scored which is always very important for a striker. He ran a lot and always fought for the ball but he needs more time to improve. He’s a really important player for us.”
Carroll, recently recovered from a thigh injury, played 59 minutes before being replaced by Spurs hitman Jermain Defoe.
Asked if he would allow the Liverpool striker a celebratory beer, Capello grinned: “That is a question really for Kenny Dalglish.” (ANI)
