Karachi, Mar.28 (ANI): Hailing the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to appoint flamboyant all rounder Shahid Afridi as the captain of the T20 squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Championship in West Indies, coach Waqar Younis has said Afridi’s leadership qualities would help the team to a great extent.

Waqar spoke highly of Afridi’s positive approach, and said his presence on the field will boost the team’s performance.

“Afridi enters in the field with a positive frame of mind and his presence in the field generates a fighting spirit among the players,” The Dawn quoted Waqar, as saying.

Waqar said Afridi has performed brilliantly in the shorter version of the game, and the Pakistan squad under his guidance is capable of defending the T20 title.

“The Pakistan team is capable of defending its T20 World Cup title, and it can give good results in the presence of Afridi, Abdul Razzaq and Akmal brothers,” Waqar said. (ANI)
