Adriano to meet Roma fans after signing contract
June 9th, 2010 - 3:06 pm ICT by IANSRome, June 9 (DPA) Serie A giants Roma were to present Brazilian striker Adriano to fans Wednesday at Rome’s Flaminio stadium after he signed a new contract with the team from the Italian capital, the club said.
Adriano, 28, signed a three-year contract Tuesday after undergoing medical tests at a Rome hospital.
The striker closed his contract with Brazil’s Flamengo, helping the Rio De Janeiro side win the national title with 19 goals to his name.
He rejoins the Italian Serie A, where he played from 2001 to 2008, struggling with personal and alcohol problems in the last years at Inter Milan. He also played with Fiorentina and Parma.
Roma captain Francesco Totti, who is currently on vacation, welcomed him through his website.
“I’m certain that Adriano will manage to show his qualities,” Totti wrote. “Together, we can do great things for a great Roma. We will help in any possible way to become part of our group.”
