Adrian Gonzalez On The Verge Of Being Traded To Boston Red Sox

donDec 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) All-Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is on the verge of joining the Boston Red Sox with a trading deal being edged between the team and the San Diego Padres over the weekend. Sources have divulged that the much acclaimed player was in Boston on Saturday to undergo a physical examination which is being considered to be the final step in the trade agreement that being worked out between Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres.

According to an insider familiar with the contract, apart from the physical examination, the all-star slugger and his reportedly new team Boston Red Sox would have to work on a renegotiated deal owing to the prospects that Boston is giving up. At the same time, the source also hinted that both the teams intend to finalize the deal prior to the winter meeting which commence on Monday. In lieu of Adrian Gonzalez, the San Diego Padres is likely to get as many as three top prospects of the Boston Red Sox as well as another player who is yet to be determined, reports say. The prospects who have reportedly been traded to San Diego Padres in exchange of the all-star first baseman are outfielder Reymond Fuentes, right-hander Casey Kelly as well as first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

The intrinsic details of the contract that has been edged between the two team continues to remain sketchy but insiders have hinted that Adrian Gonzalez is seeking a deal worth $160 million with an eight-year long validity. The decision to trade the all-star was reached by the San Diego Padres after it concluded that the player was just too expensive for them.
