Adebayor will never apologize for his stamp, says Van Persie

London, Sep 26(ANI): Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has said that former teammate and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor will never apologize for the stamp that left the Dutchman injured.
Van Persie had earlier accused Adebayor of deliberately trying to injure him with a stamp during their defeat to Manchester City two weeks ago. He also sustained a cut on the side of his head, which required treatment.
Adebayor had claimed that he spoke to Van Persie after the challenge, but the Gunners star insists that no conversation had taken place between the two.
“I don’t expect an apology. My feelings are the same. He has shown what he is like in the last couple of weeks. So, he had to do what he did. If I look in the mirror, I cannot blame myself,” The Sun quoted Van Persie, as saying.
“I don’t want to waste more time on Adebayor,” he added.
Though Adebayor was punished for the aggressive celebrations after scoring a goal during the match, he escaped being punished for the stamp, as referee Mark Clattenburg did not notice the incident.
However, the FA will decide upon a punishment for Adebayor’s antics.
Van Persie also said that he is aware that Adebayor could have been given more than a three-game ban for the stamp.
“A referee at the start of the season came and explained that if they think it is worse than a three-game suspension, they will ban for four or five,” Van Persie said.
“But, Adebayor got the ban for what he did because what he did was not right,” he added.
