New Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) chief Michael Fennell said Wednesday that all allegations of irregularities into the Games projects should be dealt with “strongly and urgently.”
“We are concerned and we want to ensure that no corruption is involved and all conditions required to host the Games are met. We want these matters to be dealt with strongly and with great deal of urgency,” Fennell said.

“We came to know from media reports that there are some problems in some of the venues arising out of monsoon. We want those venues to satisfy all the requirements and we would also want to know the outcome of the investigations into the charges,” Fennell told a television channel.

“I think we want to have good Games but we need to clarify these (allegations) and ensure that there is full investigation and full transparency,” Fennell said.

CGF chief executive officer Mike Hooper has already written a letter to the organising committee seeking clarification on the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report on the safety of the venues and also asked it to get a safety certificate from the venue owners before taking over the stadiums.

The CVC had put 16 Games projects under the scanner including the Games Village swimming pool, training hall, and athletic track, among others, which are the responsibility of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the renovation of Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and SPM swimming pool - Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the upgrade of Talkatora Stadium under New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and a few other projects undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
