New Delhi, Aug 6 (ANI): India’s ace rifle shooter, Gagan Narang, may not
participate in Commonwealth Games as he feels demotivated due to denial of
Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

Narang, who is ranked world number two, became the first Indian to qualify
for the Olympics after shooting a bronze in the 10-metre air rifle event in the
50th World Championship in Munich.

Speaking to media persons after arriving Delhi on Friday morning, he said:

“At the moment, I am not really very sure of participation in the
Commonwealth Games because I am really de-motivated,” said Narang.

Narang also said that he was a strong contender since the past few years for
the award.

“If I was ignored last year, that doesn’t mean last year or 2008 year’s
achievements are zero. I think those achievements also should be considered for
next time that you apply. Your contention in the award means that you have been
performing well over the past three years and being consistent. So I hope
something happens about this,” said Narang.

At the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, rifle shooter Gagan Narang had won
four gold medals. (ANI)
