Rio de Janeiro, May 7 (IANS) Italian Serie A club’s AC Milan winger Robinho has played down reports of a possible return to Brazilian club Santos.
Last month Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro claimed Robinho wanted to re-sign with his former club, saying the move depended on Milan’s willingness to release the 28-year-old.
But Robinho insisted he was happy at the San Siro, where he is contracted until 2014.
“I know how football is. At this stage of the season there are always exaggerated rumours,” Robinho quoted as saying by Xinhua.
“The truth is that I am happy in Milan. I’m comfortable and focused towards giving my all for the club.”
Robinho, a regular starter for Milan, has had two separate spells at Santos. He was part of the team’s 2002 and 2004 Brazilian championship-winning teams before returning to help the club secure the 2010 Brazilian Cup.
