London, July 21 (ANI): England’s ace playmaker David Beckham’s hope of playing top level football is still alive with AC Milan showing interest to re-sign him, after LA Galaxy fans jeered and gestured at him resulting in ugly confrontation.
AC Milan coach Leonardo has signalled the end of Beckham’s American Dream, as the England ace is facing fresh doubts over his future in Major League Soccer; Leonardo is stepping up his efforts to re-sign the star.
Fans in the US have not forgiven him for leaving even though he is less than halfway through a five-year deal worth 25 million pounds a year to try and be the face of the MLS.
“David has had and still has a good relationship with all of us. He was very useful when he wore our shirt,” The Mirror quoted Leonardo, as saying.
“David is a very intelligent player and there is nothing strange in saying he could re-enter my plans because he can play in any system,” he added.
Beckham wants to go back to Europe in the winter to keep alive his hopes of playing in next summer’s World Cup finals, as England coach Fabio Capello has warned he must be playing top-level football to be in the frame.
LA Galaxy fans jeered and gestured at ace midfielder David Beckham, which resulted in an ugly confrontation with fans at his first return home match in Los Angeles.
The former England captain attempted to jump over a barrier as he left the field at halftime to remonstrate with a section of the crowd that had been jeering him.
Beckham had already endured boos from fans on July 16 during his first game back in America, an away match against the New York Red Bulls, after a five-month loan spell at AC Milan.
But his first return match at Galaxy’s home ground, a friendly against AC Milan, sparked more angry jeering. (ANI)
