40 Oz fans thrown out of the stadium for unruly behaviourDecember 26th, 2007 - 4:57 pm ICT by admin
Melbourne, Dec 26 (ANI): The Australian Police have thrown out dozens of rowdy cricket fans during the fist day of Boxing Day Test at the MCG against India.
Forty boisterous spectators were booted out for throwing missiles during banned Mexican waves and other unruly conduct.
One spectator was fined 215 dollars for re-entering the ground after being evicted.
Police and Cricket Australia said most fans were enjoying the sun and the fun without causing trouble.
About 67,000 spectators have flocked to the MCG on Wednesday to watch the India-Australia Test match.
Superintendent Stephen Leane said police monitored CCTV footage to identify the troublemakers.
They were confined to the MCG’s notorious former Bay 13.
Earlier, the police had warned that racist, drunken and anti-social crowd tactics would not be tolerated.
Fans guilty of racism have been threatened with life bans from the MCG, news.com.au reported. (ANI)
