Kolkata, May 23 (IANS) Sixteen budding players from across the country have been selected through a five-month-long football talent hunt to represent India at a youth football tournament to be played in Milan later this year.

The under-15 soccer talent hunt organised by Tata Tea in association with Inter Milan football club, kicked off in Bhubaneswar in December 2011 and covered 15 cities across India.

Started in 2007, the latest season witnessed participation of 6,500 students from 1,100 schools across the country, who were trained by Inter Milan coaches Marco Monti and Massimo Ciocci.

“The players I saw are very talented and hard working,” said Monti.

The final 16 players were chosen after a week-long intensive training session.

“We are very excited to play with the famous club Inter Milan. I always dreamt of playing at a club like Inter. It is a dream come true for me,” said Yami Longwah from Shillong.
