13-Year-Old Motorbike Racer Peter Lenz Dies During Warm-Up Crash

peter1Aug 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Peter Lenz, a 13-year-old Vancouver, Washington motorcycle racer died at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track early on Sunday while taking warm-up lap round the track before the race event. The tragic death of Peter Lenz occurred when the racer unable to control his bike fell from it and was run over by the speeding bike of another fellow participant. The news of the death of Peter Lenz that has shocked the world of motorcycle racing was confirmed by Peter Lenz’s father and the Marion County coroner’s office. The Marion County coroner’s office said to media sources that the aspiring racer had died of blunt force trauma. Further details on the exact cause of death of Peter Lenz could only be known today as the autopsy reports of the boy arrives at the coroner’s office.

Peter Lenz was run over by a fellow competitor who is reportedly aged 12 years. Although the paramedics present at the event immediately put Peter Lenz on neck brace and went for chest compressions, it seemed to have little effect on the boy who lied unresponsive on the stretcher. Peter Lenz was pronounced dead at the hospital few hours later. Peter Lenz is not only the youngest driver to have lost his life on the Indianapolis Motor Raceway track, but also the first in the past seven years to have died on the historical track. In October 2003, IndyCar driver Tony Renna met with a same kind of the fate while on a test drive.

Peter Lenz was one of the brightest racers of America. Aged on 11, he was endowed with an “expert” license by the American Federation of Motorcyclists and in March last year, Peter Lenz won the AFM race as the youngest racer.
