Zardari vows to work for interfaith harmony on Easter
April 24th, 2011 - 5:09 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, April 24(ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated Christians on the occasion of Easter, and vowed to work for the promotion of human equality, religious tolerance and interfaith harmony.
“I felicitate the Christians of the world, both within Pakistan and abroad and wish them a blessed Easter”, The Nation quoted Zardari, as saying in a message on Sunday.
“Let us on this day dedicate ourselves to interfaith harmony and to the progress and prosperity of all sections of the society”, he added.
The President said he also wished to reiterate on this occasion that the policy of equality, freedom and security for all minorities, including Christians, will continue as guaranteed in the Pakistan Constitution and as promised by the Quaid-e-Azam and Quaid-e-Awam, and that there will be no compromise on it.
He also reiterated the pledge to safeguard the rights of all minorities to freely profess and practice their religion.
Zardari said that Pakistani Christians are law-abiding and loyal citizens, and that the nation is proud of their great contributions towards the development of the country. (ANI)
