Lahore, Nov.19 (ANI): President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani have different opinions regarding threats emanating from India, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Secretary Fauzia Wahab has said.
“There is a difference of views between the president and the COAS when it comes to ‘threat perception’ from India,” The Daily Times quoted Wahab, as saying.
Wahab said Zardari wants a ‘paradigm shift’ in relations with neighbouring countries by the time his tenure ends.
She said the President is of the view that relationship with neighbours should be based on ‘trade specifics’ and not on ’security-specifics’.
It may be noted that few months ago Zardari had said that India was no longer a threat to the country.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had then described Zardari’s remarks as his ‘personal views’. (ANI)
