Lahore, Mar 24(ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has sold the country’s independence and sovereignty to the United States, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Munawar Hasan has said.
He said the US had handcuffed Pakistan through the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and added that prosperity in Pakistan could not be achieved through foreign loans, which were taken only to bolster personal bank deposits.
Hasan also blasted Pakistan’s Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, saying that after remaining asleep over 250 drone attacks, he was now trying to deceive the nation through crocodile tears.
A coterie of thieves and plunderers, which has been holding the country hostage, is talking of “saving the system” only to protect its corruption and ill-gotten wealth, The Nation quoted the JI Ameer, as saying while addressing a party ijtema (gathering) on the Pakistan Day.
He said the army and the rulers had deprived the people of basic needs, while lawlessness, spiralling prices and unemployment had made people’s life miserable in the country.
He further said that the US, having suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Afghans, was now trying to destabilise Pakistan through Indian and Israeli agents with the intent to make a case for placing the country’s nuclear assets under international control.
Hasan also alleged that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had freed CIA spy Raymond Davis on the direction of the provincial Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif.
He said the present awakening in the Muslim world was an expression of hatred for US policies, adding that Pakistan would have to stand by the patriotic forces to defend its independence and sovereignty.
JI deputy chief Sirajul Haq pointed out that the rulers of Pakistan, who were enjoying luxurious living, were trying to snatch the last morsel of food from the masses.
President Zardari had 114 billion rupees in foreign banks while Nawaz Sharif’s foreign deposits ran up to 149 billion rupees, he alleged.
JI Punjab chief Syed Waseem Akhtar said that the entire world had become a prey to US terrorism since 9/11, adding that the nation would have to support the JI with full resolve and determination for a real change. (ANI)
