Taliban Islamabad, Dec 15 (IANS) The widow of a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) member had facilitated the attack on a key Pakistan Navy base in Karachi in May this year, said police.

Sabiha, the widow of Shahid Khan alias Qari Shahid who was killed in a police shootout Dec 5, has told police that she was involved in several terror acts, including in facilitating the Karachi navy base attackers, reported the daily Dawn.

A 15-hour siege that began on the night of May 22 at the PNS Mehran base led to the death of 14 people, including four terrorists. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The terrorists destroyed the Navy’s P-3C Orion aircraft with rockets.

Sindh Police chief Mushtaq Shah said several disclosures were made by the woman.

Sources said she and her husband were involved in carrying out reconnaissance of the PNS Mehran base before the attack and in several other terror attacks over the past few years.

She told investigators that five terrorists had come from Waziristan to attack the base.

The Taliban mounted the attack on the navy base after Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was gunned down by US commandos in his Abbottabad town hideout May 2.
