With 29 members, PML-N tops list of 105 ‘fake degree-holding Pak parliamentarians’
December 3rd, 2010 - 6:12 pm ICT by ANILahore, Dec 3 (ANI): Around 105 current and former Pakistani politicians, belonging to different political and religious parties, used unfair means to become members of parliament.
These politicians have now been exposed, as the court, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), or the institutes responsible for issuing their degrees have declared them ‘fake or invalid degree holders’, the Daily Times reported.
According to sources, among these 105 politicians are those individuals who resigned from public office in response to the allegations of holding bogus or invalid bachelors degrees issued by various institutes.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is at the top of the list of fake degree holders, with as many as 29 of its members facing such allegations.
With 26 members, the Pakistan People Party (PPP) follows it, while former ruling party the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) stands third with 18 parliamentarians.
16 independent politicians, and five Ulema belonging to a religious parties alliance called Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, have also been declared by courts or educational institutes as fake or invalid degree holders.
Members of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), the Awami National Party (ANP), the Balochistan National Party (BNP), the National People’s Party (NPP) and Pir Pagaro’s Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) have also used “unfair means” to reach parliament. (ANI)
