Islamabad, March 30 (IANS) As ministers were absent, the Pakistan Senate chairman Wednesday wondered if all the ministers had gone to see the India-Pakistan match at Mohali.
When told that only a few ministers had gone to India, a senator quipped that the remaining ministers were preparing to watch it here.
India and Pakistan are playing in the World Cup semifinal match at Mohali in India’s Punjab state. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has travelled to India on an invitation from his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh, in what is being described as cricket diplomacy.
On the absence of federal ministers from the house, Senate chairman Farooq H. Naik asked where had all the ministers gone.
Online news agency reported that Naik inquired from Leader of the House Nayyar Bokhari if all the ministers had gone to India to witness the match.
Bokhari said only a few ministers have left for India.
Then, Senator Shahid Bugti said the remaining ministers were making preparations to watch match here.
The opposition staged a walk out from the Senate to protest the absence of federal ministers from the house.
The ministers were not present during the question hour when the senate session started Wednesday.
The senators raised objection over absence of the ministers, saying who would give reply to the questions when the ministers were not present.
