Washington, Dec.24 (ANI): The United States has said that it is working closely with the civilian government led by President Asif Ali Zardari, amidst the present chaos in Pakistan.
Addressing media persons during a regular press briefing here, State Department spokesman PJ Crowley described Pakistan’s Supreme Court’s judgement on the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) as Pakistan’s “internal matter.”
“This is really an internal matter for the Pakistani government. We continue to work closely with the government of President Zardari,” Crowley said.
Crowley underlined that the government of Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani came to office through a parliamentary process, and the “ongoing process between the two branches of the Pakistani government is a judgement for the Pakistani people to make”.
He said the Obama administration would continue to work with Islamabad to help it meet the challenges and the demands of its own people.
“Our concern is to and we continue to work to try to help build up the capacity of the government of Pakistan to meet the needs of its own people,” The Daily Times quoted Crowley, as saying. (ANI)
