October 28th, 2009 - 6:14 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Islamabad, Oct 28 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, Wednesday said the US stands “should to shoulder” with Pakistan in its fight against extremism.
“I want you to know that this fight is not only Pakistan’s alone, this is our struggle as well,” she said while addressing a joint press conference here with Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
“We will give you the help which is needed to achieve the peace,” she added.
Clinton condemned a suicide bombing in the city of Peshawar in northwest of the country earlier Wednesday which killed at least 87 people and injured over 200.
“Pakistan is in the midst of an ongoing struggle against tenacious and brutal extremist groups who kill innocent people and terrorise communities,” she said.
Addressing the press, Qureshi said both countries need to understand each others’ concerns.
“We both have an interest in peaceful Afghanistan. We should not ignore the history and, keeping that in view, we have to build a relationship,” he said.
