‘US wants master-slave relations with Pak’April 14th, 2009 - 2:44 pm ICT by ANI
Islamabad, Apr. 14 (ANI): The intention behind the United States providing preconditioned financial aid to Pakistan is that it wants to establish master-slave relations with the country, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has said.
PTI Spokesperson Dr. Shireen Mazari said her party considered the proposed bill with conditionalities unacceptable, and it should be totally rejected.
“We feel that it is now in our vital interest to create some space between the US, and ourselves since the financial assistance will actually further destabilize Pakistan,” The News quoted Mazari, as saying.
She also accused the US of intending to have the master-slave relationship with Pakistan.
“The bill’s title itself is a bad joke on the people of Pakistan - Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement or the PEACE Act of 2009,” Mazari said.
She also criticized the Clause J of the bill for being India-specific.
The Clause required Pakistan ‘not to support any person or group that conducted violence, sabotage, or other activities meant to instill fear in India.
“Is the US going to get a similar undertaking from India? The issue is simply of sovereignty, since Pakistan already has a bilateral anti-terror agreement with India, so why this India-specific clause?” she asked.
Clause K was equally insulting, she said. It demanded of Pakistan access for the US investigators to ‘individuals suspected of engaging in worldwide proliferation of nuclear materials,’ and required Pakistan to ‘restrict such individuals from travel or any other activity that could result in further proliferation’, she said.
