US should step in to improve Indo-Pak ties: Ex Pak FM
December 4th, 2009 - 12:40 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Lahore, Dec.4 (ANI): Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said that the US would need to step in to resolve pending issues and improve ties between India and Pakistan.
Talking to media persons during a meeting of Muslim League-Q leaders here, Kasuri said Washington should play its role in improving relationship between both the countries.
Rejecting fears about threat to Pakistan’s nuclear armaments posed by the Al-Qaeda andf other extremist groups, he said there is no threat to the country’s civilian government, and that it would complete its term.
Earlier speaking at a seminar, Kasuri said that backdoor diplomacy between India and Pakistan had made substantial progress on the long pending Kashmir issue.
He said the Kashmir issue would be resolved as soon as the relationship between the two countries becomes normal.
Commenting on the heightened tension between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, he said India would not wage war with Pakistan directly, instead it could start a proxy war by increasing infiltration in Balochistan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
He blamed the previous regimes for Pakistan’s current chaotic situation, saying massive corruption on part of the rulers had left negative implications on the national morale.
Underlining the threat facing the country both from internal and external enemies, Kasuri urged the people of the country not to allow them to succeed in their objectives. (ANI)
