US, Pak working on resumption of bilateral strategic dialogue, high-level contacts

Washington, Mar 25(ANI): The United States and Pakistan are working together to resume their strategic dialogue and other high-level contacts that were delayed by recent strains in their bilateral relationship, US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman has said.
Talking to journalists at the Pakistan Embassy, Grossman also indicated that the two countries were working on rescheduling President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Washington, which was initially planned in April but has now been delayed.
Similarly, both nations were also working on US President Barack Obama’s visit to Pakistan that was announced last year, but has not been scheduled so far, the envoy added.
Grossman returned to Washington last week from his visit to Islamabad, where he had gone amid the mounting Raymond Davis crisis, which at one stage seemed to threaten bilateral ties between the US and Pakistan.
When asked whether his visit to Islamabad helped reduce those tensions, the US envoy replied: “I hope it has.”
“This is a very important relationship and we value it,” the Dawn quoted Grossman, as saying.
He acknowledged that the issues plaguing US-Pak bilateral ties figured prominently in his talks in Islamabad, but both sides also underlined their desire to overcome these snags and continue the mutually beneficial relationship. (ANI)
