Islamabad, Feb 24 (IANS) At least six people were killed Thursday when two US drones fired missiles into Pakistan’s tribal area of North Waziristan, Xinhua reported. In the first strike, four missiles were fired at a suspected militants hideout at the Data Khel area near Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, killing four people, sources said.
Shortly after the attack, a second pilotless aircraft landed two missiles in the same area, killing two people near the border with Afghanistan.
The US drones regularly hit hideouts of militants in the Pakistani tribal region, which Washington considers as the centre of Taliban and Al Qaeda remnants. Pakistan opposes the US strikes inside the country’s tribal regions and seeks the drone technology.
