Barack Obama Lahore, July 24(ANI): A research carried out by the BBC Urdu service has found that missile attacks by US drones in Pakistan’s Tribal Areas have tripled under the Obama administration.

Compared to 25 drone strikes between January 2008 and January 2009, there were at least 87 such attacks between US President Barack Obama taking office on January 20, 2009 and the end of June 2010, The Daily Times reports.

The bulk of the attacks was carried out in North Waziristan, with South Waziristan being the next main target.

Over 700 people have been killed in such attacks under Obama, compared to 200 under his predecessor, George W. Bush.

The report also disclosed that the Taliban backlash over the same period has been even more violent, as they carried out 140 attacks, killing over 1,700 people and injuring hundreds. (ANI)
