Washington, Mar 26(ANI): The United States has rejected the suggestion that it had withdrawn some security personnel from Pakistan since the arrest of double murder-accused American Raymond Davis, who was accused of running an underground CIA cell in the country.

“We were - in the days immediately following the resolution of Mr Davis’s case - certainly on heightened security awareness,” the Dawn quoted US State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner, as telling a briefing in Washington.

“But there has been no measure to reduce our footprint in Pakistan,” he added.

Toner insisted that both countries were “getting back to business as usual” after resolving the Raymond Davis dispute.

He noted that the US had also resumed its programmes that seek to promote cooperation between the two governments and with the Pakistani people.

Toner described the US agenda behind this cooperation as building Pakistani institutions and capacity to bring greater economic prosperity and political freedom in the country.

He also rejected the suggestion that Pakistan had given America a list of US military and security personnel, whom Islamabad was going to declare persona non grata if Washington failed to withdraw them within a stipulated time frame. (ANI)
