US denies violating Pakistan air space
December 22nd, 2009 - 12:26 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Dec.22 (ANI): The United States has rejected media reports about its aircraft violating Pakistan airspace.
“These accusations are entirely false. No US fighter aircraft flew over Mohmand as alleged in the article,” a statement issued by the US embassy here said.
It may be noted that on Saturday, Pakistani had media flashed news about American fighter jets intruding into Pakistan’s air space over Mohmand Agency.
The press release stressed that the coalition and US air operations in Afghanistan being escorted along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border were closely coordinating with the Pakistan Air Force to deconflict airspace and prevent similar incidents.
“We refer to questions concerning the integrity of Pakistani airspace to the Pakistan Air Force,” The Daily Times quoted the statement, as saying.
The statement also rejected reports about any altercation between the US Consulate General in Lahore and Pakistani customs officials at the Lahore airport regarding the receipt of routine diplomatic parcels.
“These reports were in error. The US diplomatic pouches that arrived on Saturday in Lahore were received without incident,” the press release added.
It said that the Pakistan Foreign Office had allowed the US Consulate General in Lahore to receive the diplomatic pouches.
“Our spokesman is available to answer any questions regarding this or other matters involving the US Mission in Pakistan,” the statement said. (ANI)
