US Centcom chief meets Pak Army ChiefJanuary 22nd, 2008 - 8:29 pm ICT by admin
Islamabad, Jan.22 (ANI): U.S. Centcom chief Admiral William Fallon has arrived in Islamabad on a one-day official visit.
Admiral William Fallon met with Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Pervez Kiani.
According to informed sources, General Kiani is believed to have told Admiral Fallon that only Pakistani forces would be allowed to conduct any operation inside Pakistan. He, however, is said to have been open to the idea of bilateral intelligence sharing.
Admiral Fallon said the war against terror could only be won with joint efforts of the allied forces. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister and PML (N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan nuclear assets are safe.
He stated this while talking to envoys from Japan and the Netherlands at his his Raiwind estate in Lahore on Tuesday
The issue of rigging allegations and the questionable partiality shown by the Musharraf regime also came up for discussion during the meeting.
During the meeting the Japanese Ambassador, Seiiji Kojimi, and the Dutch Ambassador, Willem Andreas, stressed the need for free and fair elections. (ANI with inputs)
