UN to launch probe into Bhuttos murder in January 2009: PPPDecember 29th, 2008 - 2:05 pm ICT by ANI
Lahore/Islamabad, Dec 28 (ANI): The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General, Jahangir Badar has said that a UN commission will begin investigations into former prime minister Benazir Bhuttos murder case by January next year.
Badar also said that his party would provide all the evidence to the UN team to help them with the investigation, the Daily Times reported.
Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar welcomed the UN probe in Benazirs assassination.
We requested the UN to constitute an investigation commission so that the people who were behind the tragedy could be exposed, Babar said, adding that the announcement regarding the UN commissions formation was a good omen.
Earlier, the UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon had assured Pakistani people of his commitment to investigate the Bhuttos assassination case.
Ban ki-Moon issued a statement saying that a commission would be set up to investigate the murder of the former Pakistani PM Benazir Bhutto.
