Rawalpindi, Dec. 28 (ANI): Pakistan’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar Awan has said that findings of the UN probe in the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto will be presented before parliament in March 2010.
During his visit to Benazir’s memorial service at Liaquat Bagh, Awan told reporters that the UN team had requested the government for a month’s time to finalise the report.
He added that the parliament and the provincial assemblies had demanded inquiry to be conducted like it was done in the Hariri murder case, the Daily Times reports.
Recalling that Bhutto believed in free judiciary and media, Awan said that the PPP-led government was pursuing her policies.
The government was committed to bringing socio-economic change in the society, and fulfilling the dreams of the Bhuttos, for which it had launched many programmes for the welfare of the people, he added.
Awan also said the PPP was also carrying Benazir and Zulfikar’s agenda for the supremacy of parliament and the politics of reconciliation. (ANI)
