Khar, Dec 26 (ANI): Food aid distribution centres have temporarily been closed in northwest Pakistan following a suicide bombing that killed 45 people outside a World Food Programme depot in Bajaur on Saturday.

Shafiq Khan, an official involved in the WFP food distribution project, said the four relief centers in the Bajaur district were shuttered after the regional government ordered their temporary closure following Saturday’s attack, the Dawn reported.

It was not immediately clear how long the food distribution points would be closed, it added.

The United Nations WFP project in Bajaur feeds thousands of people, who have been displaced since early 2009 by fighting between the Pakistan military and insurgents.

On Saturday, a female bomber had blown herself up on a large crowd receiving food aid at a distribution centre of the WFP in the main town of Khar, killing 45 people and wounding 80 others. (ANI)
