Two killed carrying policemen’s salaries in Balochistan
August 16th, 2012 - 1:01 am ICT by IANSIslamabad, Aug 15 (IANS) At least two policemen were killed and six others injured after some unidentified men attacked a police van carrying policemen’s salaries in Pakistan’s Balochistan province Wednesday night, a media report said.
The attack was launched around 9 p.m. when at least four gunmen riding motorbikes opened fire at the police van carrying salaries for the local police employees in Balochistan’s Awran area, reported Xinhua citing the media report.
Having looted (Pakistani) Rs.6,460,000 (about $68,000), the attackers fled the scene.
The van was carrying eight policemen and was on its way to Awran from Quetta when it was attacked on the main highway. The six injured policemen, including the cashier, were rushed to hospital in Awran.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack till last report.
