Two drug traffickers receive death penalty in China
August 8th, 2010 - 6:41 pm ICT by ANIGuangzhou, Aug 8(ANI): Two drug traffickers have been sentenced to death in China’s Guangdong Province for manufacturing, transporting and dealing in large amounts of crystal methamphetamine, known as “ice”.
The Intermediate People’s Court of Guangzhou also confiscated the personal assets of Chan Thao Phoumy, a 47-year-old Chinese French, and Xie Weiming.
The decision was taken after the court heard that an eight-member drug ring had manufactured tons of ice drugs between 1999 and 2003, and they sold the drugs on many occasions.
Two other traffickers in the ring, Li Yunfeng and Xian Jinbai, were sentenced to death, but with a two-year reprieve, the Xinhua news agency reports.
Three others were jailed for life, while one other man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. (ANI)
