Two dead, 14 hurt in Peshawar blast
July 1st, 2011 - 3:11 am ICT by IANSIslamabad, July 1 (IANS) Two people were killed and 14 others injured when a vehicle exploded Thursday night in northwestern Pakistan’s Peshawar city, Xinhua reported.
The blast occurred around 9.30 p.m. in the Shoba market of downtown Peshawar, capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The explosion was caused by a gas cylinder of the vehicle, Geo News said quoting provincial minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour.
The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.
The vehicle caught fire after the blast but was successfully doused.
Police and a bomb disposal squad cordoned off the area.
