Islamabad, Feb 24 (Xinhua) Three policemen were killed and six injured when unidentified men attacked a security forces check-post near the city of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan early Sunday, the News Network International news agency reported. The police said the assailants opened fire at the check-post in the town of Matni in the outskirts of Peshawar, capital city of North-West Frontier Province, leaving two personnel dead and seven injured.
The injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar where one policeman succumbed to his injuries and another was stated to be in critical condition.
The check-post was manned by the Reserve Police and Frontier Constabulary personnel.
