Windows of several nearby buildings were shattered in the deafening explosion.
Hassan Iqbal, the town’s civil administrator, said initial investigation showed that a car bomb caused the blast in southern Punjab. Dawn News said the bombing occurred near minister Dost Mohammad Khosa’s residence.
“It is not clear yet whether it was a suicide attack or a remote-controlled bombing,” DPA quoted him as saying.
Khosa was not at home when the blast took place, Iqbal said.
An official said three bodies and more than a dozen wounded people had been moved to hospitals.
