Terrorists planning attacks on foreigners in Pak
November 27th, 2010 - 12:55 pm ICT by ANIPeshawar, Nov 27 (ANI): Terrorists are planning to target foreigners, specially United States, British and Saudi citizens present in Pakistan, law enforcement agencies have said in their report sent to the authorities concerned.
Well-placed sources revealed that the National Crisis Management Cell had informed the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA authorities, DG Rangers Sindh and other concerned authorities about the threat, The Nation reported.
According to the report, militants are planning to target foreigners working in the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and foreign diplomats and consulates of the US, UK, Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Apart from them, religious scholars of different sects and shrines are also on the hit list of militants, the paper said.
The government has been asked to take appropriate security measures, while some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have already been put in the red zones, owing to possible terrorist attacks during Muharram.
Keeping in view the security situation during Muharram, about twelve districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, already declared as the most sensitive, will be controlled by the armed forces.
Under the security plan chalked out for the month of Muharram, about 900 religious places, including Imam bargahs and mosques, have been declared highly sensitive. (ANI)
