Terror attacks an act of ‘cowardice and frustration’: Kayani
November 12th, 2009 - 2:55 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Nov.12 (ANI): Censuring extremists for the recent spate of violence across the country, Pakistan Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has termed the terror attacks as an act of ‘cowardice and frustration’.
An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement quoted General Kayani, as saying that terrorist were targeting innocent civilians because they don’t have the courage to fight back the military.
“People can not be cowed down through such acts of terrorism, rather the resolve of the nation strengthens further to eliminate the menace of terrorism in all its forms,” The Nation quoted Kayani, as saying.
Meanwhile, Swat operational commander Major General Asfaque Nadeem has said the military is in full control of the region.
Interacting with media persons, Major General Nadeem said the Swat operation has been successful primarily due to people’s overwhelming support.
“The situation in Mingora and other parts of the district is normal and under the control of security forces,” he added.
Nadeem also informed that the security forces were also planning to organise a organise a skiing championship in December at Malam Jabba to restore tourism in the valley, which received a major set-back due to the military offensive. (ANI)
