Ten extremists including Sufi Mohammad’s close aide surrenders

Islamabad, Oct.6 (ANI): Ten extremists including a close associate of the detained Tanzim Nifaz Shariat-e-Muhammadi (TNSM) chief, Maulana Sufi Muhammad, have surrendered before the Pakistani security forces in Dir.
Maulana Badshah Zeb, who has been the Upper Dir district chief of the TNSM for several years laid down arms along with nine other militants late on Monday.Nine other militants also surrendered in Wari region, The News reported.
They surrendered to the District Police Officer (DCO), Mumtaz Zarin and Dir Scouts officials in the presence of jirga members Malik Bahram Khan, Malik Jehanzeb Khan, Sultan Yousaf and others.
Sources said a ‘jirga’ of Taliban elders played an important role in convincing the militants to surrender.
According to a statement released by the Frontier Constabulary (FC), the militants have confessed their crime and have promised to abide by the law from now on.
“The militants confessed that they were on the wrong path as they were committing crime against the humanity by killing and torturing the innocent people. The militants also said that they were feeling guilty of their previous conduct. They have also realized that their act had brought a bad name for Islam. The surrendered militants promised to abide by the law of land and not take part in terrorist activities in future,” the FC release stated. (ANI)
