Target killings in Karachi, Quetta ‘great conspiracy’ against Pakistan: Imran Khan
June 20th, 2010 - 6:00 pm ICT by ANIKarachi, June 20 (ANI): Describing the recent spree of target-killings in Sindh and Balochistan as a great conspiracy against the country, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said only judiciary can save democracy in Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference here, Imran said the battle for survival of democracy in the country has entered its final phase, and that the verdict of the Supreme Court concerning the 18th Constitutional Amendment would decide the future of democracy in Pakistan.
He also attacked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) calling it a ‘friendly opposition.
Imran said both the PML-N and the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) were equally responsible for pushing the country towards destruction.
The cricketer-turned politician said that the government has failed to protect the life of common people from the terrorists, adding that crime ratio had increased by 33 percent in the present regime.
“The incumbent government has burdened the poor Pakistanis with more taxes including Value Added and General Sales Tax instead of imposing taxes on the elite and privileged classes. Inflation, poverty and sky-rocketing price hike could be curtailed if the present rulers cut down their princely luxurious expenses,” The Nation quoted Imran, as saying. (ANI)
