Islamabad, Sep.17 (ANI): Pakistan security forces have arrested one of the most wanted and dreaded Taliban commanders, Sher Mohammad Qasab, along with 16 other extremists from the Swat Valley.
Qasab, who is said to have been running a slaughter house, was nabbed after a fierce gun battle between the Taliban and troops.
Qasab, who was injured in the operation, was paraded before the local residents in Charbagh Bazaar by the security officials.
Qasab’s son, Adalat Khan was also arrested during the raid while his other three sons, Zahid, Shah Wazir and Perwanat have already been killed in a clash with security forces a couple of days ago.
Officials said he used to behead his opponents and military personnel in his slaughter house.
“Troops encircled him for days. He was running a slaughter centre in Charbagh where he himself used to slaughter opponents and security personnel,” The Dawn quoted a military official, Colonel Abbas, as saying.
Meanwhile, at least 37 militants have surrendered before the Army in different areas of the Valley.
An ISPR statement said a top level Taliban commander Shamakhel and his two sons, laid down their arms in Shah Dheri, Shah Dand Banda, Kanju and Bar Shor areas.
Security forces have also discovered eight secret tunnels during raids. The tunnels were used by the extremists as a hide out, the ISPR said. (ANI)
